1. Check the clinic is licensed
Aesthetic medical services are regulated under the Healthcare Services Act (HCSA). You can check whether a provider is licensed via the public listing on HealthHub — MOH explains how to verify this.
2. Check the doctor
Confirm the treating doctor is registered with the Singapore Medical Council. The SMC’s guidelines also set out which aesthetic procedures doctors may offer, based on the strength of clinical evidence.
3. Expect a proper consultation
A good consultation assesses your concern, explains the options, risks and realistic outcomes — and doesn’t pressure you. Energy-based devices and lasers should be used under a registered medical practitioner.
4. Look for pricing transparency
Ask for the total expected cost (including how many sessions), and be cautious of heavy discounting or pressure to commit to a large package on the spot.
5. Watch for red flags
- Outcome promises or guarantees, or treatments described as “permanent” or “instant”.
- No named, registered doctor.
- High-pressure sales tactics.
