HIFU in Singapore: how it works and how it compares
What HIFU does, how it is generally used for lifting, and how it compares with Ultherapy and Thermage.
HIFU, Ultherapy and Thermage are often mentioned together as non-surgical “lifting” treatments, but they are not the same technology. This guide is general information for your research only — not medical advice.
How they differ
- HIFU — high-intensity focused ultrasound, delivering energy at set depths below the skin.
- Ultherapy — a specific brand of ultrasound-based treatment.
- Thermage — uses radiofrequency energy rather than ultrasound.
All are energy-based and non-surgical. We do not rank them or promise results — which (if any) suits you depends on your skin, your goals and a doctor’s assessment.
Choosing well
Energy-based aesthetic devices are regulated as medical devices by the Health Sciences Authority and should be used under a registered medical practitioner. The Singapore Medical Council’s guidelines also classify aesthetic procedures by the strength of the clinical evidence behind them — useful context when weighing options.
Before you book
- Confirm an SMC-registered doctor and an HCSA-licensed clinic (how we verify).
- Ask what results are realistic for you, plus the risks, aftercare and total cost.
- For how the treatment works, see HIFU.
